Cupping

Cupping is an ancient technique, used in many cultures, in which a special cup is applied to the skin and held in place by suction. The suction draws superficial tissue into the cup, which may either be left in place or moved along the body. Cupping brings fresh blood to the area and helps improve circulation. Traditional cupping, sometimes referred to as “fire cupping," uses heat to create a vacuum-like suction inside of glass cups. In modern times, cups that use a small pump to create suction have also been introduced. In our office, we use electric cupping machines.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion involves the heating of acupuncture points with smoldering mugwort herb (known as moxa). Moxibustion stimulates circulation, counteracts cold and dampness in the body, and promotes the smooth flow of blood and qi. This safe, non-invasive technique may be used alone, but it is generally used in conjunction with acupuncture treatment.

TENS Therapy

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) therapy involves the use of low-voltage electric currents to treat pain. A TENS unit is a small device that delivers the electrical impulses through electrodes on your skin. The electrical current can reduce the pain signals being sent to your brain, as well as stimulate production of endorphins, leading to pain relief and muscle relaxation.

LED Light Therapy

LED Light therapy, also known as Low Level Laser therapy or phototherapy, utilizes red, blue, and near-infrared wavelengths to treat skin concerns as well as muscle and joint pain. Research has shown that phototherapy can increase circulation, accelerate tissue repair, decrease wrinkles, decrease inflammation, improve skin tone and wrinkles, texture and clarity, ease muscle and joint pain, stiffness, spasm
and arthritis and kill acne bacteria, and much more. We use Celluma Light Therapy in both facial and scalp microneedling, as well as in conjunction with acupuncture treatments.

Kinesiology Taping

Kinesiology tape, also called Elastic Therapeutic Tape, KT Tape®, or Kinesio® Tape, is not like a brace or compression tape, it supports the area by taking pressure off with a lifting effect. This allows for a proprioception response that reduces inflammation, inhibits pain receptors and allows for the body’s natural healing ability to take place.
At our clinic, we use Kinesio® Tex Gold FP which is developed for Kinesio Medical Practitioners and backed by research and development since the early 1970’s. It has a wave pattern providing Fingerprint [FP] technology and Nano Touch stimulation to the epidermis and superficial layers of the skin.

Kinesio® Tape is:
100% gentle cotton fiber
100% medical grade acrylic adhesive
100% latex-free
Hypoallergenic
Water-resistant
